Symptom Media Joins the National Council for Mental Wellbeing as a Bronze Partner

Partnership brings AI-powered Interactive Simulations to the behavioral health workforce

National Council for Mental Wellbeing Bronze Partner badgeSanta Monica, October 26, 2026 — Symptom Media, a leading provider of DSM-5-TR clinically guided mental health training videos and simulations, today announced it has joined the National Council for Mental Wellbeing as a Bronze Partner. Through the partnership, Symptom Media will introduce Interactive Simulations, its AI-powered clinical practice platform, to the National Council's network of member organizations.

Interactive Simulations, launched this year in partnership with Mixta, an NSF-funded AI simulation platform, gives clinicians, staff and students a low-risk way to practice real clinical conversations. Learners hold unscripted conversations with AI-driven virtual patients presenting DSM-5-TR symptoms, receive real-time scoring and competency measurement, and build readiness before working with real clients. Organizations can use an off-the-shelf module library or author custom courses for their own workforce needs, from staff onboarding through ongoing professional development.

"Behavioral health organizations are being asked to do more with stretched teams, and new staff often learn the hardest conversations on the job," said Matt Rubin, CEO of Symptom Media. "Through our partnership with the National Council, we can bring Interactive Simulations to the organizations doing this work every day, giving clinicians a safe place to practice, receive feedback and sharpen their skills before they ever sit across from a client. We're eager to learn from National Council members and shape new modules around what they need most."

For more than 16 years, Symptom Media has built one of the leading libraries of DSM-5-TR clinically guided video simulations, used by more than 500 colleges and universities to prepare future behavioral health professionals. Interactive Simulations extends that library from watching to doing, so learners can practice the conversations they will have in the field.
