Homelessness in the U.S. – Statistics (Part 1)
- The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimated that on a single night in 2022, 582,500 people in the U.S. were experiencing homelessness in the U.S.
- 60% were staying in sheltered locations (i.e., emergency shelters, safe havens, or transitional housing programs).
- 40% were in unsheltered locations (e.g., on the street, abandoned buildings, etc.).
