Tip #1 for Socratic Questioning
- Identify the patient’s belief and gain a better understanding for their basis for it.
Example:
Patient belief: “It’s my fault that I was sexually assaulted”.
Socratic lines of questioning:
- “Tell me, exactly how was this your fault?”
- “What exactly do you think you should have done differently?”
- “If this had happened to your loved one, would you think it was their fault, too?”
