D29 – 2.3 Bipolar I or II Disorder.

Bipolar I or II Disorder

  • For the diagnosis of Bipolar I, it is necessary to meet the criteria for a current or past manic episode.
  • For the diagnosis of Bipolar II, it is necessary to meet the criteria for a current or past hypomanic episode and a current or past major depressive episode.

This differs from Treatment Resistant Depression because in that condition past or present manic or hypomanic episodes are not apart of the symptomatology criteria.
