Substance Induced Depressive Disorder

There is evidence from history, physical exam and laboratory findings of both of the following:

1. The depressive symptoms develop during or soon after substance intoxication or withdrawal.
2. The involved substance is capable of producing depressive symptoms.

This differs from Treatment Resistant Depression because in that condition the symptoms are not related to the effects of a substance.
